Peta’s work on fighting the deadly monkey import trade gave victory after life-saving victory in 2024, and now we have even more good news to share.

The figures are in: 15% fewer monkeys were brought to the country last year compared to 2023. This fall has spared thousands of animal-novels all threatened long-tailed macacter-from cruel and deadly laboratory experiments.

The good news does not end there. In just six years – from 2019 to 2024 – Montery Import has fallen by as much as 53%, according to documents, PETA obtained from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

It is proof that our collective efforts are working.

This news comes on the heels of the convention of international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and Flora (citing) Secretariat, which recommends to stop the export of long tail macaque from Cambodia. By 2023, Fish & Wildlife Service Service Service of these animals to the United States suspended after its five-year study documenting widespread monkey smuggling and laundering in Cambodia. The CITES decision should strengthen this suspension that we pressed for.

We have written letters, filed complaints and held colorful demonstrations, and with the help of thousands of dedicated followers like you, we will continue to save animals’ lives in 2025 and beyond.

Further and upwards

Peta does not waste this momentum. Fastening in our sights is Safer Human Medicine Inc., a company that wants to build the largest monkey in the United States in the small town of Bainbridge, Georgia.

Peddling monkeys is a bad business plan well past its expiry date. We work with dedicated Bainbridge residents who are hard against Safer Human Medicine’s plan to send the company packing.

Valle your power in 2025

Take action and urge Bainbridge -Officers to block Safer Human Medicine’s plan to construct a tremendous monkey:

No monkey

Then take action and encourage the CDC to close the cruel and dangerous monkey-abduction pipeline.
