Hi, I’m Dr. Karyn! Read my introduction to learn more about me and meet my five funny cats: Clutch, Cyril, Alex, Zelda and Zazzles.

A really ordinary complaint I hear from cat lovers is that their cats do not seem to reciprocate their love as enthusiastically as they would like. It is also the reason why some people claim that they ‘hate’ cats – better to reject them than to be rejected! The irony that many cat lovers will also be familiar with is that the people who do not want or try to attract a cat’s devotion are inevitably those who receive it. Another classic ‘cat -ism’ is that your cat wants to overlook you with love and cuddle at exactly that time, it is least convenient.

Example: Zelda

Zelda was adopted by the man as an older kitten; one that had been poorly socialized. Her daily routine generally consisted of eating, sleeping, hiding and destroying. She had no interest in playing with toys or engaging with any of the other pets or people who shared her home; Her only focus was to shred the kitchen sponge or breads. It was only when she was finally taken on a fresh deed that the man realized that the source of all the kitchen confetti was the lightning -fast, black -haired demon who was lurking in the shadows of the wardrobe.

Of course, the man taught to store the bread in the pantry and store the mushroom under the sink, but sometimes accidents and forgettings happened, and his frustration approached the explosion point. How much he hated it, his interaction with Zelda had been reduced to silence, frustrated sighs and delivery and retrieval of food bowls. So, about six months into this rather bleak relationship, it was as if someone had hit a contact in Zelda, and she stopped her destruction regime and began following the man wherever he went, jumping in his lap and asking him in love, when he sat down. . She also turned her feelings against Bailey, the gentle yellow Labrador, who mostly ignored Zelda’s loving demonstrations.

Shill for a few years and Zelda’s home has become a little more crowded, with the addition of me, some more cats and more dogs. Although she doesn’t trot behind the man all day, every day, she still loves to sit on his lap and rub over him – honestly, this cat has no shame.

And when is she most insistent on demonstrating her love? It’s always when man uses a laptop, phone or PlayStation console. If he looks busy – BAM! – Here comes Zelda and this Fe Princess is not easy to ignore.

Just because this basis for avoidance and growing anger has resulted in a relationship of love and affection, of course, does not mean that this is the method to follow. However…

Reverse Psychology

Unlike dogs whose threshold for attention and affection has not yet been discovered and probably not exist, cats appear to have a particular limit. Each cat’s limit is different and can also vary depending on who the attention and devotion comes from. That limit seems to exist on the edge of a very sharp fall, and if you exceed your benefit you will be rejected hard, either by violence or a look of disgust that makes you wish you had never been born .

Cats like to have control. There is a reason why we often say that humans do not own cats but are owned by you. We laugh at it, but it’s a hollow grin, built on shame. Deep down, we know that if cats had opposite thumbs, the world would be a completely different place …

Back to reverse psychology!

If you need to have any chance of winning a cat’s love and worship, make it look like it’s their choice; They control when and how much. We are here just to make their commandments and be damn grateful for the job. If a cat does not feel it has control over the situation, it will probably romp.

So if we want to feel the love of a cat, we have to let them come to us. Be uninterested, dismissive, and even go away. I’m not going so far as to recommend “treat them evil, keep them eager“Philosophy about women -hating dating, but it’s closer to the goal than a love bombardy approach. Perhaps ‘treating them with indifference’ would be more appropriate, as negativity and punishment are as isolating as an aggressive devoted approach.

Cats do not need friends

In nature, most cats are solitary in nature and meet only for reproductive purposes. They are not social beasts and are quite satisfied in their own company. As the tamed people over the past 10,000 years have become more tolerant of company, and they even seem to enjoy it. But the point is that they do not need That, and that’s why cats have taken over. We are prepared to do everything it takes to be considered worthy of a cat’s attention, but if they are not happy, they just go away without a glance behind. Basically, cats have got us right where they want us.

Cats are loyal friends

So here’s the good news. Once you have broken through in the cat welfare zone, you are not obliged to constantly maintain your facade of stoic nonchalance. You can lean in to a smirk or offer a cuddly, just don’t let you get carried away. But if a cat has decided that you are worthy of their time, they probably won’t go back on that decision; It would be to admit a mistake!

If it sounds like I’m annoyed over cats, then I say it wrong. I admire them. They make us provide food, heat, shelter and security, and they have not compromised their integrity to do so. The only thing they ask for is that we follow their tracks and are cool, calm and caught up with the cat’s attention. Do not beg, hunt, catch or strangle; Be patient and let them come to you. But whatever you do, you dare not get up when they are on your lap!

If you want to be almost 100 % sure to win a cat’s love, then rode an adult. When you take home and emit love on a kitten, they often take you for granted! But if you offer your home to an adult cat who has lived hard or neglected, the hard work is already done and you will have a grateful cat friend for life. Just ask clutch.
